Welcome to Sunny Side Kitchen, where we’re all about panini — cheesy, grilled, made-to-order sandwiches featuring the best local ingredients we can find. We start with artisan sourdough by San Diego bakery, Bread & Cie, to build delicious, homemade signatures like Tuscan Chicken, Pesto Chicken, and our Vegetarian Mediterranean Panini.
But wait — we know you can’t live on bread alone. So our menu incorporates small-batch drinks, like fresh lemonade, San Diego’s women-owned Howling Moon Kombucha, and an array of hot and iced coffees from our bright yellow La Marzocco espresso machine. We have satisfying salads, a daily rotation of homemade soups, plus a crustless quiche that’s to die for!
We also pride ourselves on offering several gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian options. And finally, if Mom says it’s okay, we’ll serve you a dozen of our famous, homemade, bite-sized cookies. Visit us at our cozy cafe, located just off Grand Ave in the historic downtown district in Escondido, California.

“I don't need to convince anyone that this place is good, since all of the reviews before me already do that. But let me tell you. I had THE best sandwich I've ever had here. My husband? Also said his sandwich was the best sandwich. We didn't speak while eating, that's how great our food was. We also saw they had baked goods, so we went for the dozen mini cookies, and as someone who thinks she makes killer cookies...I'm sad to admit that these might be better than mine. I can admit defeat! So the place itself is pretty small, but cozy. They have some indoor and outdoor seating. We sat inside and it was fun looking into the kitchen and watching everyone cook! Eat here, you won't be disappointed. And if you are, I don't know how to help you.”

“I have been coming here for years and it's still so good!. While this is not your "typical" breakfast place as you wont find a fare of eggs, pancakes etc., it is perfect in what it is. It's a breakfast sandwich place, or at least that is what it is to me, and I love it for that.”

My mocha latte was amazing, the paninis we got were fresh and fantastic... the Parmesan encrusted bread was a delight! Owners were welcoming and friendly.
